Design isn't just about pretty pictures. Through design, we redefine our relationships with products, processes or ideas. Some of these inspirational, some exemplary or even ill-conceived. My everyday encounter with many different design forms is the stuff of this blog - and possibly a springboard for new ideas. My special interest: how design helps build bridges between the maker and the consumer through new, innovative ways.
I am Jaydeep or Joydeep Dutta, most often abbreviated to Jay or JD (based on the hemisphere I am in). I live in the midst urban chaos, auditory and visual overload in the heart of Southern India with my naughty talkative 4 year old son and my good friend and partner (and voice of conscience).
A designer by training - I wear many hats - including typographer, ethnographic researcher, photographer, steam engine driver, opinionated creative director and rarely a chef's too. My work and interests have steered me towards the universe of strategic marketing and brand management. I suppose the logical bent of mind that typographers are usually endowed with helps a bit.
The changing Indian brandscape proved to be a carrot and I relocated from a little English village in Sunny Cheshire - to a brand new world for brands.
